EggSort is a free arcade game where players will have to sort eggs of various colors and designs in order to clear the board. This game from Harry Lundstrom offers a fun, nostalgic vibe that’s easy enough to pick up but can be much more difficult than you’d expect.

The premise of EggSort is as straightforward as can be. Players will need to match three or more eggs so that they can move them to a basket and clear up some space for all the other incoming eggs. Keep an eye out for clocks and bombs, as well.

EggSort is a fun retro-style game with pixel graphics that brings back the nostalgia of your classic console games. Its mechanics are simple and familiar enough for players — especially fans of other match-3 titles. While the concept seems straightforward, though, the game throws in a few curveballs. As already mentioned, the game mixes in some clocks and bombs among the numerous falling eggs to either give you a boost or potentially challenge you even more.

While clocks can speed up the pace of falling objects, bombs will be able to explode a part of your board. However, blowing up chickens on your board can lead to an entire row of eggs being added, which can make it difficult to beat when your board is nearly filled to the brim. It’s important to note, as well, that there are no levels in this game. 

The game only stops once you’ve hit the top and your score will be determined by the number of eggs you’ve matched. Matching multiple eggs in a row can build up your score streak, as well. This adds a challenging nature to the game that pushes you to the limits as you strive to beat your highest score. However, the gameplay can also begin to feel monotonous and repetitive over time.

Repetitive but challenging

Overall, EggSort is an entertaining game that can keep you occupied for short periods of time while still giving you enough of a challenge. Its adorable pixel graphics bring forth a sense of nostalgia that can remind you of old arcade games you’ve played in your childhood. While the monotonous gameplay can feel a bit boring, you can try looking forward to beating your best score as an encouragement to keep playing.
